What are cookies?
Cookies are small text files sent from the website to data subject’s computer (usually to the browser), where they are stored to be subsequently re-transmitted to the website at the next visit of the same user. A cookie cannot recall any other data of the user’s hard disk; it can neither transmit computer virus nor get email addresses. Every cookie is unique for the user’s web browser. Some of the cookie features may be referred to other technologies. In this document, the term “cookie” means both cookies in the strict sense and all similar technologies.

Cookies can be of first or third party. “First party” cookies mean cookies that related to the domain website, while “third party” cookies mean cookies related to external domains.
Third party cookies are necessarily installed by an external subject always defined “third party”, which is not managed by the website. These subjects can possibly install even first party cookies, by storing its own cookies on the website domain.

They are not used for further purposes and normally they are installed directly by the website owner or manager. They can be divided in:
• navigation or session cookies, which ensure the normal website navigation and use (allowing, for example, to make a purchase or to authenticate to login to personal areas). They are, in fact, necessary for the correct functioning of the website;
• cookie analytics, assimilated to technical cookies where used directly by the website manager to collect information, in an aggregated form, on the number of users and on how the latter visit the same website in order to improve website performance;
• functionality cookies, which allow the user to navigate depending on a series of selected criteria (for example, the language) in order to improve the service rendered to the same. The installation of these cookies does not require users’ prior consent (for more information, see the section “Management of cookies” below).
Profiling cookies
Profiling cookies are intended to create profiles related to the user and are used to send advertising messages in line with the preferences expressed by the same user during its online navigation.
The use of profiling cookies requires the data subject’s consent. According to the regulation (for more information, see the paragraph “Management of cookies” below) , the user can authorise or deny his/her consent to cookie installation through the options provided in the section “Management of cookies”.
In case of third-party cookies, the website does not have a direct control over single cookies and cannot control them (it can neither install them directly nor delete them). However, you can manage these cookies through browser settings (follow the instructions set out below) or the websites indicated in the section “Management of cookies”.
